John's Whistle

Meet John. When he was at the age when other children begin to speak, John didn’t. And as he grew up, whenever he wanted to ask for something or express how he felt, he could only whistle. John is different. When he was at the age when other children start to talk, he didn’t. As he grew up, when he had to ask for what he wanted, or express how he felt, he could only whistle. John began to use different kinds of whistles for different things.

He blew a sharp whistle to call attention, a louder whistle when he was hungry, and an even louder one if something scared him! John had a playful whistle to say “I love you,” and a longer, sweeter-sounding whistle to express happiness.

But everything would change the day he met Claire, a girl with dark, dark eyes. A tale full of tenderness that touches the heart, reminding us that music is the true language of the soul and that our differences can be solved through good intentions and friendship.
