Cuento de Luz Receives B Corporation® Certification
MADRID, November 16, 2015 – The Spanish publisher children picture books Cuento de Luz (www.cuentodeluz.com) has become a Certified B Corporation®. The prestigious certification is awarded to companies which use the power of business to solve social and environmental problems and meet higher standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.
Leading a global movement to redefine success in business, Certified B Corporations® are a new kind of company with a positive vision of a better way to do business. Unlike traditional corporations, Certified B Corporations make a public, legally enshrined commitment to considering the impact of their decisions on their collaborators, suppliers, community, consumers, and environment.
Cuento de Luz is only the second publisher in the world, and the first publisher in Europe, to achieve this certification. Cuento de Luz recevied a score of 129 out of a possible 200 points on the B Impact assessment, 60% higher than the required threshold of for certification.
Social engagement is a fundamental part of the Cuento de Luz DNA. With a strong emphasis on promoting universal values such as respecting differences, promoting peace, respecting the environment, Cuento de Luz has supported a number of small non-profit organizations. In some cases a title has been translated to the local language (e.g. Swahili, Dari) where these organizations are operating, and Cuento de Luz has donated a printed version to be distributed in those countries. Almost all titles aim to contribute in disseminating values that help to make the world a better place.
